What We’re Recognizing & Amplifying This October

By October 1, 2026No Comments

Colourful graphic spelling out "OCTOBER" with each letter filled by a themed photo (people collaborating around a table, sewing and craft tools, purple neon "October" sign, a sunflower field, a chalkboard with math equations, green butterflies on a leaf, and a person's legs using a white cane with a service dog crossing a crosswalk). A purple carrot icon appears twice within the letters. Bats and spiderwebs decorate the corners against a purple gradient background. Footer text reads "Disability Employment Awareness Month | Light It Up! For NDEAM, Invisible Disabilities Week | Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, World Cerebral Palsy Day | World Sight & Blindness Awareness Month."

October brings a full slate of awareness observances that connect closely to the values behind our programming. This month includes:

  • Disability Employment Awareness Month
  • Light It Up! For NDEAM
  • Invisible Disabilities Week
  • Learning Disabilities Awareness Month
  • World Cerebral Palsy Day
  • World Sight & Blindness Awareness Month

At Purple Carrots, we work with neurodiverse and diverse participants year-round, so these observances aren’t just dates on a calendar for us — they reflect the communities we build our programming around. From celebrating the value of disability employment to recognizing invisible and learning disabilities, October is a good reminder of why accessible, inclusive spaces matter.

We hope this month sparks conversation, awareness, and action in your own circles too.
