Today, Purple Carrots officially hits a double-digit milestone: our 10th Anniversary. What started on April 22, 2016, as a vision to create a space where neurodiversity is celebrated through the arts has grown into a vibrant, thriving community. Looking back over the last decade, we are overwhelmed by the stories shared, the friendships formed, and the barriers broken within our walls (and our virtual screens!).
More Than Just an Anniversary
A 10th anniversary isn’t just a celebration of time; it’s a celebration of resilience. Over the years, Purple Carrots has evolved in ways we never could have imagined. We’ve seen facilitators grow into leaders, participants find their voices through drama and dance, and families find a support system that feels like home.
Whether we were navigating the early days of finding our footing or pivoting through the unique challenges of the early 2020s, one thing remained constant: the “Purple Carrots spirit.” It’s a spirit of inclusion, radical kindness, and the belief that everyone has a unique creative spark worth sharing.
A Stroll Down Memory Lane
To celebrate this milestone, we’ve spent the last ten days reflecting on our history—from the iconic characters like Dorothy and the Professor to the “Forest Creatures” who brought our performances to life.
We also took a moment to honor the legacy of those who are no longer with us but whose impact remains part of our DNA. People like Ash, whose kindness and long-standing presence reminded us that community is built one person at a time.
